Kelowna, BC – April 22, 2026 – Barbara Egan, founder, and owner of award winning clinic, Alive Counselling in Kelowna, has been named a finalist for the Citizen of the Year Award at the 51st Annual Civic and Community Awards. This prestigious nomination highlights Egan’s exceptional contributions to the community through her work in mental health and athlete coaching.

Barbara’s award-winning clinic comprises 15 dedicated therapists who provide a collaborative approach to mental well-being. Her background as a former elite hockey player and professional coach informs her unique perspective as a seasoned therapist and clinical supervisor. Egan’s expertise extends to supporting high-performance youth and professional athletes, equipping them with the tools to excel both on and off the field.

A dedicated wife and mother of four, Barbara gives her time and effort volunteering in her community and is committed to demonstrating her faith and dedication to all those around her.

Throughout her career, Egan has been a trailblazer, having coached at the highest levels including at The Ohio State University and the University of British Columbia. Her commitment to mental resilience and self-care has made her a sought-after speaker in the mental health field.
